How Morelo list prices moved, 2018 to 2027

Morelo price list cover, model year 2027-2
Morelo price list, model year 2027-2.

This is a multi-year series of Morelo entry prices, read straight from the official price lists for the 2018 to 2027 model years. Each figure is the “from” price: the cheapest floor plan on that line's base engine, VAT included. Empty cells mean the line was not in that year's price list.

“From” is the cheapest floor plan on the base engine of each line. Prices include VAT (2018 EMPIRE LINER at 19%, marked *, all others at 20%), so part of the 2018 to 2019 step is a VAT effect rather than a real increase. The 2019 price list covered only the Palace and Empire lines, which is why HOME and LOFT jump from 2018 straight to 2020. Sparklines are normalised per line and use real year spacing. The binding price always comes from the dealer.

As a rough long-term guide, that works out at about 4 to 5.5 percent per year in nominal terms for the lines with the longest history (HOME +4.5%, PALACE +4.7%, PALACE LINER +5.5%, EMPIRE LINER +3.7% per year), or roughly 2 to 3 percent per year once inflation is stripped out. A single-year change tells you little; the annual average is the number to keep in mind.

Same engine, different story

2023 · 654 450 € · Actros 1853 L · 530 hp
2027 · 615 050 € · Actros 1840 L · 394 hp · −6.0%
+ 1853 L (20 170 €) → 635 220 € · −2.9%

The headline drop overstates it. Grand Empire's 2027 entry uses a smaller base engine (Actros 1840 L) than in 2023 (1853 L). Add the 1853 L engine back (a 20 170 € option) and the like-for-like 2027 price is 635 220 €, still about 19 000 € below 2023. So Morelo can also trim a price year over year, not only raise it.

Read it in context

Across the lines, prices from 2018 to 2027 rose on the order of 45 to 60 percent (HOME +49%, PALACE +51%, PALACE LINER +62%). For comparison, German consumer prices rose cumulatively by about a quarter (2018 to 2025, source: Destatis). Premium vehicle prices therefore rose markedly faster than general inflation.

The technical level is rising too: the EMPIRE LINER moved to the IVECO S-Way platform, lines and floor plans were added, and standard equipment keeps growing.

Two lines are not comparable one to one. PALACE LINER lost its cheaper IVECO variant for 2027, so the entry now sits only on the Atego. And above all GRAND EMPIRE, see the box above.

Read Grand Empire carefully. The entry engine was trimmed for 2027, and even like for like it came down a little. An entry made more tempting on a range that is due for renewal is worth noting: it can make the current generation look its sharpest right before a new one arrives. Read the base engine, and where the model sits in its cycle.

Our advice: read the base specification, the chassis and engine, and where the model sits in its life cycle, not just the headline “from” price. That figure moves between years for reasons other than inflation. The binding price always comes from the dealer.

Strip inflation out and entry prices still rose about 18 to 22 percent in real terms across most lines, with Palace Liner the most at +30% and Empire Liner the least at +9%. German consumer prices rose roughly 24 percent cumulatively from 2018 to 2025 (index 2018 = 100 reaching about 124; source: Destatis). So the increase is not only an inflation illusion; premium motorhome prices outran the general shopping basket in real terms.

Real prices are shown in 2018 euros, nominal figures deflated by the German consumer price index. The 2027 list is deflated by the 2025 index, the latest full year. Empire Liner starts from 2019 because its 2018 figure used a different VAT rate.

The used market

New list prices are only half the picture. Here is where used and nearly-new Morelos sit on the German market, as asking prices (VAT included). Realised prices typically run about 5 to 12 percent below asking. Snapshot mid-2026, source: caraworld.de and autoplius.

LineUsed asking range
HOME200 000 – 286 000 €
LOFT150 000 – 320 000 €
PALACE170 000 – 345 000 €
PALACE LINER277 000 – 683 000 €
EMPIRE LINER260 000 – 550 000 €
GRAND EMPIRE498 000 – 921 000 €

The ranges are wide because specification varies a lot; a used car is usually far better equipped than a base new order. That is why the used route is not automatically the cheaper one: a well-specified nearly-new Grand Empire can ask as much as, or more than, a new base order, and a base Home can be found new for close to used asking prices. Read the specification and the delivery time, not just the new-versus-used label. Realised prices run below asking, so treat these as upper bounds.

One practical point that the numbers do not show: a used or demo vehicle is available now, while a new build-to-order Morelo typically waits somewhere between 6 and 12 months, depending on the production plan and the availability of chassis. Immediate availability has a value of its own.
